Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026 · Plain-English summary for the Guardian Angel browser extension

Your API keys stay on your computer. We do not operate a Guardian Angel server that collects your keys or inbox.

Email content is only sent when you click “Check This Email.” Nothing is read automatically in the background.

Who we are

Guardian Angel is a browser extension that helps users review Gmail messages for possible scam or phishing risk. This policy describes how the extension handles information.

What is stored on your device

This data is stored using the browser’s local extension storage. It is not uploaded to a Guardian Angel backend.

What is sent when you scan an email

When you click Check This Email, the extension reads the open Gmail message and sends:

…to the AI provider you selected:

Those companies process the text to return a safety score and advice. Their own privacy policies and terms apply to that processing. Guardian Angel does not receive a copy of your email content on a separate developer server.

What we do not do

Permissions

The extension requests only what it needs:

AI limitations

Results are produced by third-party AI models and can be wrong. Do not treat a “safe” score as a guarantee. When unsure, do not click links or send money; contact the company using a phone number you already know, or ask someone you trust.

Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13. It is intended as a practical safety aid for adults, including older adults and their families.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the “Last updated” date above will be revised. Continued use of the extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Contact

For privacy questions about the extension, contact the publisher using the email address listed on the Chrome Web Store listing for Guardian Angel (or the contact method provided with your copy of the extension).
